Administration section

The Administration section of the Delegation of the European Union to Uganda is the "back office". The team is much less visible to the outside than for example the Operational or Political colleagues. This does however not mean that the section is less important. No business will operate without a well smoothly running back office.

The Administration section assists the Head of Delegation to "keep the shop running". The staff of the Administration section is service oriented and assists the entire EU Delegation staff.

The main responsibilities are :-

Administrative and logistic management: This includes leasing of the office space and accommodation for the expatriate staff, management of the office vehicles, furniture, and equipment, the ICT equipment, and procurement procedures.

  • Financial management: We manage the budget to execute the administrative and logistic management, the Human resources management, Protocol and security activities.
  • Human Resources: The Delegation is roughly staffed half by expatriate staff and half by Ugandan locally employed staff. We are fully in charge of the management of the Ugandan staff and partly for the expatriate staff, (certain activities are run from headquaters).
  • Protocol: As a Diplomatic mission we liaise directly with the Protocol office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Uganda.
  • Security: Last but not least, we ensure that the office is safe and the staff can work and live in highly secured premises.
