Development Co-operation

EU cooperation with Uganda
has evolved significantly over the past 10 years in order to respond to the country's priority needs, namely foster sustainable development by sound governance and macroeconomic policies, improved connectivity of national and regional transport infrastructure, and strengthen of agriculture and livelihoods, especially in the northern and Karamoja regions.

The table below shows EC cooperation with Uganda for 8th to 10th EDF, as well as the budget breakdown between the focal and other sectors.

Under the 10th EDF macroeconomic support / General Budget Support is an important part of the EU-Uganda cooperation, and transport and rural development are lead sectors. Social sectors are non focal under the 10th EDF but indicators for education and health are central to the current General Budget Support (MDG-Contract).

The current portfolio of the Delegation, including 10th EDF projects, consists of 106 ongoing projects, out of which 50 projects are EDF funded (national and regional projects), 6 are funded under the Water and Energy Facilities, and 50 are funded under different thematic budget lines. All these projects together represent a total amount of 1.175 MEuro, out of which 1.115 MEuro are funded by the EDF.
