EU welcomes ammendments to the Public order Management Bill

The European Union Delegation in Uganda welcomes the ongoing debate on public order management by civil society, government and politicians in the country.

The right to peaceful exercise of freedoms of expression, assembly and protest is an essential part of any democratic system.

Clarifying in law the rights and obligations of the citizens, on one hand, and the responsibility of the public authority to facilitate peaceful protests and ensure public order, on the other, is a welcome step.
